The County of Volusia is seeking a Patient Services Coordinator for the Corrections Division. This position is located in Daytona Beach, Florida and will be responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the inmate medical contract in the Corrections division. The selected candidate will also serve as a liaison to the contractor, sub-contractors, third party administrator and other outside agencies.
NOTE: This position is located in the Volusia County Branch Jail; and will have daily contact with law enforcement personnel and inmates from a variety of different economic, social, educational, and ethnic backgrounds within the walls of a secured facility.

Ensures agency compliance with established laws, regulations, certifications, and accreditations; interprets policies, procedures, rules and regulations; and ensures supervisors and staff members follow same.
Monitors and reviews outside medical services such as hospital stays, emergency visits, and specialist visits.
Conducts research and analyzes data such as daily and monthly health services and statistical reports, etc. and utilizes such data in planning functions.
Conducts relevant investigations based on program needs, trends, and incidents.
Prepares and reports Corrections program statistics to management and/or other relevant staff based on assignment.
Identifies and develops new programs to improve areas of deficiency.
Ensures staff meets all training and development requirements.
Monitors infectious/contagious disease patterns and incidents ensuring proper procedure is followed to prevent an outbreak.
Maintains daily interaction with nursing supervisors, staff and management to discuss patient records to ensure compliance with contract.
Monitors patient hospital discharge orders for compliance.
Monitors and reviews additional onsite services for efficiency and effectiveness.
Monitors staffing shift vacancies and reports deficiencies to management
Reviews incident reports to make sure that documentation is clear and objective and reports issues to management.
Attends onsite medical staff meetings to monitor performance and ensure compliance with contract terms.
Actively participates in case management and utilization management meetings.
Maintains a contract register to serve as a monitoring tool and ensure adherence to contract terms.
Monitors inmate health records to ensure timeliness.
Monitors standards and accreditation status reports and documents for compliance.
Serves on relevant internal committees and teams.
Evaluates deficiency trends across medical programs and staff and reports to appropriate staff per department policy.
Ensures corrective actions are taken for audit findings and program deficiencies.
Conducts research to help inmates with health insurance coverage and assistance program issues.
Assists inmates with securing health insurance or assisted programs upon re-entry
Attends work on a regular and consistent basis
Responds to emergency situations.
Must adhere to Federal, State, County and Local ordinances.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum RequirementsBachelor's degree from an accredited institution in nursing, AND must have four (4) years of nursing experience, including (2) years of medical case management experience. The preferred candidate, having met the minimum requirements, will have correctional nursing experience.
*Must be currently licensed in the State of Florida as a Registered Nurse.
*Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license.

Demonstrated knowledge of medical and legal terminology.
Computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheets and database functions.
Able to make decisions in accordance with company policies, laws, and regulations.
Demonstrated basic knowledge of services covered under Medicare, Medicaid and other third-party claims.
Skilled in case management in a hospital setting.
Able to interact effectively with others.
Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Must be able to relocate to other county locations based upon operational needs.
Physical Demands: Light work. Extended sitting, some walking, lifting and carrying up to 15 pounds. Ability to reach, see, talk, drive, hear, and finger dexterity. Visual acuity (depth perception, peripheral vision) necessary to operate a motorized vehicle.
Environmental Demands: Inside work. Ability to tolerate confined, secured areas.
Mental Demands: Ability to read and comprehend technical and or medical documents, instructions, rules, guidelines and procedures; memos, letters. Ability to write clearly and concisely relaying information, details and data; ability to perform general mathematical functions; ability to speak and relay information to layman.
